Сепсис - Литургия Безумия FLAC album

Holy crap, this is a great record! Very complex and experimental with a lot of twists and turns, but never losing a sense of melody or becoming too free; far from being "noise for noises sake". Fairly dark and intriguing and worth seeking out!

Curiously named, and quite a remarkable band, Sepsis hail from St. Petersburg. Recorded before the demise of the Soviet Union, it's no surprise that this fantastically complex instrumental rock album took over a year to see the light of day. But what an album!
Sepsis are but a trio of guitar, bass and drums, yet you'd hardly believe it. The extensive multi-tracking often extends to two drum sets, two basses, and up to six different types of guitar! Sepsis' music is certainly a melting pot of ideas, most notable is the rhythm structure; complex, nimble, yet offbeat, a style often attributed as originating with Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, but that is merely the backbone of what is a much more elaborate music, and the vehicle for astounding guitarist Alexey Romanov - he can be Steve Howe, Robert Fripp, Ricardo Ortegon, Gayle Ellett, Seppo Tyni, Raoul Bjorkenheim, Coste Apetrea, Andy Latimer, etc., all rolled into one, or a twist on any! The multi-guitars fill in all the parts one would normally expect to find keyboards, and the music is devilishly complex, as if one elaborate suite per side, with constantly surprising twists and turns. Certainly Sepsis deserve the same attention as lauded on Ozric Tentacles, Djam Karet and Tangle Edge, as masters of instrumental rock of great invention.
