Aftermath - Don't Cheer Me Up FLAC album

Back in those dear metal '80s, I'd noticed this band because of the cover and title of this album; somehow it spoke to me, being dark and cynical, yet not without humor. But I never got around to listening to the album until recently. It didn't turn out to be the greatest feast for my ears ever, but I can always appreciate a dosage of this kind of metal, ranging from heavy- to speed- to thrash- to power-, with a singer sometimes reminiscent of Metal Church's David Wayne and Judas Priest's Rob Halford. The songs are very much okay, but the almost obligatory semi-ballad is simply too long (over 10 minutes!). Though most of the riffs are pretty much deducted or half-copied from what's been done before, it's all quite charmingly 'old school'.

So, no big surprises, not a legendary album, but nonetheless certainly listenable for the more die-hard fans of '80s metal. 3 out of 5 from me, bang on.
