Notes

#1-4: Recorded December 11, 1956
#5-11: Recorded August 12, 1957

#11 is stereo; all others are mono.

NOTE: The contents of this CD do not reflect exactly with that of the original corresponding album PJ-60.
#1, 3 & 4 were originally issued (along with #2) on WPM-401 under Bill Perkins' name. When issued on PJ-60 they were edited. The recent discovery of the removed bits and pieces enabled us to reconstruct the original tape and restore those performances to full length.
All previous issues of the master take of "Popo" were edited to 4:26. The full length version appears here for the first time.
Stereo versions of #5, 8 & 10 (edited) appeared on PJ LA 896. They were heavily equalized copies and inferior in sound to the original mono tapes, which we have chosen to use. The alternative take of "Popo" is the only performance for which an original stereo tape survived. Incidentally, it hould be noted that part of the valve instrumented solo, the baritone solo and the beginning of the piano solo on the alternate are the same as the previously issued master take. Apparently Dick Bock borrowed them to construct a master take to his liking.
