Not sure what you are referring to with the sleeve. A matte gatefold tip-on sleeve is leagues nicer than most new albums' sleeves.

Error parents

First listen was a major disappointment from such a beautiful LP. I too heard the snaps and hiss. I want to get Volcano Choir but won't buy it on this label unless they do a re issue.

Sound is okay on my copy last I checked, however the labels are mismatched (Side 1 is labeled as Side 2 and vice versa). Seems like very little care was put into this pressing based on everyone's complaints, which is a shame for such a landmark album of the 2010s.

I just send this item straight back once i played it. The sound was a little distorted, and the audioview was verry narrow. I switched to CD simultaneously and then you realy hear the difference. While this is the final quality on vinyl i stick with streaming or CD. I really hope Bon Iver will read this reviews and will repress this great great album, because it deserve that!

Gave mine a 10 second clean after I opened it and the whole album played without a single surface noise. Honestly never had an issue with any jagjaguwar pressings, and I own quite a few. I have a theory most people complaining are using crosleys

Nah, have a really nice setup and this album still sounds terrible. You got lucky with this one. My 22, A Million sounds great and most people have issues with that one.

Unlistenable pressing of an otherwise great album here. The distortion and subsequent urge to kill is unbearable. I'm now about one from five when it comes to listenable Jagjaguwar pressings so might just give them a miss in the future, sadly.

"hold me for the pops and clicks". The actual lyrics on Calgary and the pressing that lives up to it. If you manage to get the record clean enough and sit through the few pops along the way it's a great record. Beautiful.

Every once in a while a pressing comes along that redefines what a truly crappy pressing is and this is one of those pressings. Besides having incredible amounts of obnoxious surface noise, the vinyl was coated in dirty water stains, fingerprints, and what looked to be the bite marks of someone with a missing front tooth. God what a fail. Hoping for a better pressing one day. A shame, such an excellent album.

Man, you've got the same copy than mine. Wasted 20$ and I already owned the CD! Bought it 2 days ago and thought the pressing was revisited. I was totally wrong. At least mine was bitten with someone having all his tooth.

Thought there was something seriously wrong with either my ears or my record player. Thankfully not. How the hell can someone whose job it is to master a modern masterpiece fuck it up so hard; one can only wonder.

It's not the mastering, it's the pressing house. The mastering is actually very good, given those involved Justin must have specifically requested not to master a la loudness wars as the dynamics here are nice and big. Pressing house just did a really crappy job.

I have the black vinyl edition and the sound quality is terrible... I've cleaned it but the sound is still horrible (just a bit better than before). It's very disappointing for a new vinyl. When I want to listen this album, I listen it on a WAV digital format. I have the original pressing of For Emma, Forever Ago and it sounds good.

I really like this album but I just bought it on vinyl and was majorly disappointed. It is almost un-listenable. There is so much static and popping. My copy of For Emma is also full of static and pops but not nearly this bad. There must not be any good pressings of Bon Iver albums.

Just picked up Blood Bank today and it is likely the worst sounding record in my collection. My OG pressing of For Emma was also horrible but the most recent repress isn't as bad.

Update on this. I was able to exchange my copy for a new one. The replacement copy I got sounds so much better. The bad pressings must be hit or miss. My new copy has no popping at all.

Side B is next to unlistenable. I've never seen my tonearm move from side to side that much as with the JAG135 pressing.

The black vinyl is absolutely terrible. I thought I had damaged my stylus or that something had come out of alignment the distortion was so bad. Too bad, as it was a Christmas gift.

Pringles

Just an FYI, all Jagjaguwar releases sound absolutely horrible on vinyl. It's really sad. I have this on the limited edition red vinyl release by Urban Outfitters, and it is decent at best. Haven't heard the black vinyl edition, so I can't compare, but if it's anything like the rest of the jagjaguwar catalog, I'm sure it sucks.

Sirara

I have a JAG135 mastered by Ray Janos at Sterling. Quality of the vinyl by Jagjaguar for the 2 Bon Iver releases is subpar I find. I bought both new and both are a littled scuffed and a bit noisy. I ran it through 2 cleaning cycles to minimize the crackles. The sound quality itself is ok on this release -- the resolution is bit lacking on my system and, like most new music, the dynamics are too compressed.

I have the standard LP release, CAD3117, and the sound quality is absolutely terrible. Does the ltd edition, JAG135, on white sound any better? With all of the people involved, how did these garbage pressings get approved in the first place?
