A second Boney M. Christmas album had been planned for 1984 but recordings were abandoned midway, and previously released songs were added to the track-listing. In Germany, this test pressing of the album was made before the release was cancelled in favour of the compilation "Kalimba De Luna - 16 Happy Songs". In South-Africa, however, the album was released as "(New) Christmas With Boney M.", exclusively including the original version "Mother And Child Reunion" that would later be remixed and overdubbed for Frank Farian Corporation. The new Christmas recordings remained unreleased elsewhere until 1986.

Several songs were released in another mix comparing to the 1986 Christmas album. They are: Joy To The World, Hark The Herald Angel Sing & Auld Lang Syne, which are unavailable elsewhere except on this test pressing and on the South African LP's "(New) Christmas With Boney M" and "Joy To The World".
