Just reading through some of the comments in 2020 near the anniversary of Boyd’s passing. This is a recording of historic interest for a number of reasons, as well as being the first legal release of these tracks in this form (that is an assumption!). If you want bright clean and loud recordings I am sure there are lots of bright clean and loud pumpers on beatport and traxsource or wherever you buy your music. This is not about bright clean or loud, this is history, this is soul, this is roots of house music, this is genuine, this is real. Also....these are demos. Maybe search out Circuit, or the Colonel debut LP if you require a ‘finished’ product. Otherwise...YOU NEED THIS!!!RIP Boyd Jarvis, RIP Colonel Abrams

I read an article on this 'cassette' before release, and I got the impression it was going to be an album/mini-LP. Am I remembering wrongly, or is an LP still planned?

Phallozs Dwarfs
we are not familiar with the article you are mentioning but there is no LP or any other release scheduled on Echovolt at least.

Anyone care to comment on how this record sounds? I know it was recorded to tape, I don't mind some hiss. But on my OG copy the volume levels are really up and down especially towards the 2nd half of 'Running'. I'm just wondering if that got corrected

Mr_KiLLaURa
it sounds like the original copy. Hiss is still there.

Nobody mentioned that the tracks on the B-side sound better than the one on the A-side? And, in my opinion, they are even greater. I'm very glad to have this EP in my collection. It's cheap so I would defo advise to buy it. Don't look the horse in the mouth.

Most of us care about sound quality, and it does sound crappy. Good track though!

Mr.Fonk enabler SPECTRECOM We played this out yesterday and it sounds good enough. You guys are trippin! It doesn't sound "awfully bad" in any way. It's from tape so it's not much you can do about it, and unless you're a hi-fi geek, you can appreciated this 12". If you're into spinning obscure soul, disco and boogie like the stuff PPU is re-issuing, this doesn't sound bad at all.

Yes ... It sounds awful ... Don't bother buying it. I don't know why the label bothers releasing such poor quality recordings ...

Eayaroler
pookeyblow but does it sound worse than the previous white label releases? I don't know, I don't have those.

Endieyab
but does it sound worse than the previous white label releases?

Thanks for the reply man. Noted . . . .

it sounds awfully bad. I regret having bought this. The vocals alone sound like utter trash and like the tape's been played a million times. Sorry to say this, but buying this is money wasted because there's no way you can play these tunes in a club situation.
