Djinn - Dark Reference EP FLAC album

Heavy contender for best 12" 4-tracker-EP of 2017, and anyone who's following jungle in this era knows that that is a bold statement. Can't wait to hear more of Djinn's work in the future!

THIS RECORD! If only more of the genre could be as tightly engineered for kick-math as these four diamond-hard epics. Not only is it pleasing to see Manchester (yet again) giving rise to fresh-as-fuck talent, but that we have here another artist capable of breathing new life into much maligned art form.All of these tracks are pivoted on the techno end of DnB and skilfully drop just the most fragmentary text snippets rather than the tiresome and often obligatory references to the yard getting up in your raveageddon. The pace is well up into the peak-time and the atmospherics are the misty, black and white 1950’s techno that flatters the more dynamic listener as well as coax the trad amen fan-boy back into step.Forceful, edgy beat-catharsis that is truly forward as it spies through the crystal ball and beyond the vortex. You should be buying this record immediately for the sake of your children’s personal safety.

Why?-- it is much sharper than that. I love the dark sound of trad d'n'b but this is much more focussed. You might be deaf... get that seen to :P

The amount of punch, wow! *punches air repeatedely* Take that, air!Seriously, so much punch. Also, some sinister sound sweeps, serious sub bass rumbling and destructive drum pummeling. Tight grip too, not a single weak spot to be found.

Damn, you said it all first. So true... We need more of this.
