Do someone know what this crosses † on the backcover means?

On my copy it explains at the bottom that the symbol you're asking about indicates that tracks that have this symbol after the title have been electronically reprocessed for Stereo.

The crosses mean "electronically reprocessed for stereo" - a ghastly studio effect used in the 70's / 80's to make old mono recordings sound like they're in stereo when they're not. From what I can gather, when listening on earphones, they make one speaker 'sharper' and one more 'bassy' (to simulate some kind of separation) then add echo to it. Sounds dreadful. Thankfully, modern compilers have reverted to using the original mono sound!

it does say why if you look further down. (Electronically reprocessed for stereo)
