This release is a good introduction to Rother, I suppose. As well, as it demonstrates widely all parts of his conception. The original arrangement of beats and his specific drum kits, the generated layers and short sliced keys... This compilation also shows his love to techno-stuff and the essence of his friendship and collaboration with Laux. Some parts sound like pure techno; some are much close to Rother's electro works. I'm a huge electro-fan, so Parts 7 and 9 appeal to me best of all... But what's worth mentioning is the fact that this work is much more perfect and fresh than Rother's newest ones, from my point of view.

This is what kraftwerk could have become if it were possible for humans to stay fresh, young and continually advance their ideas. But it's not. We grow old, locked into the worldviews crystallized out of the revalations of youth. This is why death is good. And this is why Anthony Rother is good, for taking kraftwerk to the next level. Some will call this 'tech house', others 'neo-detroit'. It's got straight-up 808/909 sounds, teutonically disciplined programming, twappy tweaky analog synths grooves, vocoder and cyborg human voices. Anthony Rother is to other techno as Blade Runner is to other science fiction films. Destroy him my robots!
