This might sound and look like a contractual obligation album, but it was not. Avocado Suite was the result of a band getting the freedom to try something different and fail (saleswise). This bleak and minimal album isn’t bad at all, it just collided heavily with the previous album – Bad Head Park – which was full of odd samples and pop songs. As a stand-alone it should have fitted well in an era of Aphex and Pan Sonic. In the meantime, none of the Avocado Suite tracks made it to the ‘greatest hits’ compilation, which just shows that the band moved on to try other things.

Wafi

This release is quite different and far more serious than F5's earlier releases, sounding far more raw and industrial with vaguely Panasonic-like textures. Worth seeking out.
