after the ian gillan band packed it in in late 1978 ian moved away from the prog sound that the ian gillan band offered from 1976 through 78, ian started out 1979 fresh and got a killer guitar player bernie torme and formed the GILLAN band, this band sounded nothing like the ian gillan band before, this band was on fire and very heavy, ian went for a sound that crossed between hard rock, heavy metal and a bit of blues thrown in, mr universe was the first gillan record to hit shops in 1979 and it was the beggining of an awesome 3 year stretch for gillan putting out some of the most heavy stuff ian recorded outside of deep purple, this japan papersleeve sounds awesome and i have never got tired of this album in 35 years now....
