Catchy enough song with a memorable hook - "Men... Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em" - but also somewhat trite. The lead single off Knight's first solo album (i.e. sans Pips) should have been a song that would have given her a trademark sound all her own but "Men," while a good listen every now and then, has trite lyrics and sounds dated. Maybe Gladys should have waited and made "Licence To Kill" her first solo song - while not a big hit, it defined Knight as a solo performer and ultimately will probably be her most memorable solo work, which is what "Men" should have been.
