Notes
The proper title of "Saul and the Witch at Endor is "In guilty night;" it, and "My song shall be alway [of the loving kindness of the Lord]" were both initially published in Playford's "Harmonia Sacra" . "Bess of Bedlam" initially appeared in "Orpheus Britannicus" . The frontispiece of the 1706 edition of "Orpheus Britannicus" is reproduced on the left half of the front cover of this album. This album was probably the first full-length LP devoted to the music of Henry Purcell. Ruth Kisch-Arndt is credited as the director of the Early Music Foundation itself; this organization has no relationship to the Early Music Foundation established by Frederick Renz in 1974. In the credits on the back cover underneath the titles, Kisch-Armdt's name is misspelled "Ruth Kisch-Arntd."Barcodes
