The more-acclaimed ‘Turn On the Bright Lights’ is awesome, but the confidence of 'Antics' edges it out for me.

Great album. The first 5-7 songs are amazing so is the way they work together and build up. ‘Next Exit’ is akin to an appetizer than anything else, preparing you for their sound: It is dark. Think lower Manhattan alleyways and clubs, doom-laden Sisters of Mercy influence with a club/ dance sensibility, where you’re off your head on hallucinogenics.

Then ‘Evil’ hits you. Then ‘Narc’, then ‘Take you on a Cruise,’ and then the manic glee of (the surprisingly danceable) ‘Slow Hands’… it's how an album should be structured, building up and out.

Oh and ‘Narc’: Name a better electric bass opening to a song. I'll wait.
