Mighty Mighty - The Betamax Tapes FLAC album

It's Pete from Mighty Mighty here again so don't expect an impartial review but I hope I can give you a little background to The Betamax Tapes. Firstly, it is not a lost album but they were lost tapes. Strictly speaking there never were any tapes in the first place as these were our first totally digital recordings. The tracks were recorded in early 1988 over two sessions as we waited for Sharks to be released. I'm talking about our album on Chapter 22 by the way, not the fearsome fish. We were constantly writing new songs but there was little room in our live sets for them as we prepared to promote our debut LP. So we laid these tracks down and put them to one side, intending to revisit them when LP no.2 was required of us. That unfortunately never happened as Mighty Mighty called it a day later that year. Some of these songs did get a live airing. Kiss For The Crowd frequently openned our live shows, Last Summer, Freedom Of The City, Hollow Ring and I believe The Best Part were also added to the set. These songs along with Touch Of The Sun and Emile are perhaps my favourite Betamax tracks. I think the band sound great. Three weeks with John Rivers the previous Summer turned out quite a tight little band. I think we learnt to take a breath every now and then and listen to each other. Anyhow. Here it is.
