  TrisscologgePresumably the Captivating Sounds CD release (now going for ridiculous money on this site) has the same version as the A Side of the Captivating Sounds vinyl, though? The instrumental B Side certainly seems to be unique to the CS vinyl, and an instrumental of the Anjuna version does not appear to exist.

It looks like the versions on the Cap Sounds vinyl release are totally exclusive to that release then. In that case, I am a proud owner of that piece of vinyl as they are the best mixes! Presumably then, if the extended mix on the Cap Sounds CD is the same as the AM mix on the Anjuna download, the AM Mix here https://www.discogs.com/OceanLab-Featuring-Justine-Suissa-Sky-Falls-Down/release/60569is the same? If so, strange how they changed the mix title for the CD release. And then they go and release an 'original' mix for the Anjuna release which isn't even on the original Cap Sounds mix package. Or at least that's how it appears.

I have the CS CD and i can confirm that the Extended mix is the same as the AM mix (track 5) on this digital release: https://www.junodownload.com/products/oceanlab-sky-falls-down/1252205-02 . At first listen track 1 and 5 sounds, and looks, similar but track 1 has vocal parts around 4:00, while track 5 does not.

Hmm.... well spotted regarding the CD release. I do wonder if the timings given for the CS CD are accurate though, as they are not listed in the insert. This is just serving to muddy the waters even more now.

While I haven't heard the Captivating Sounds CD, I would assume the extended version on that CD is still different than the one here because it's about 12 seconds shorter; closer to the length of the more common mixes. The versions on this vinyl are 7 minutes and 20 seconds. The instrumental version, like you said though, is definitely different. The saw synth that blasts on the offbeat is not the same synth that's used in the vocal mix.

As Monkfish2 has stated, the versions on THIS disc are in fact the only of their kind. They never made it to any of the CD or digital releases. It really is a shame because they're better representations of the trio's sound during that time, as compared to the more acid feel of the official versions. The most notable difference with these mixes over the others is the inclusion of a fluttery synth that fills out most of the progressive sections of the track. The synth is reminiscent of the same one that made it into "Satellite." Why these versions never made the later releases is beyond me.

I think some people are confused about the various mixes of this tune. There was a discussion about this on the old Anjuna forum which can still be found with a Google search but the website seems to have fallen into disrepair. I may be confused myself, but I'll give it a go anyway...There are two 'original' mixes of this. The 'original' mix on the initial 2002 Captivating Sounds release and the 'original' on the subsequent Anjunabeats release are different. They are very similar, but the Cap Sounds version has drum rolls in the build up and the breakdown that the Anjuna version lacks, also the Anjuna version drops out the kick drums at the end of the chorus after the track kicks back in after the first breakdown, which the Cap Sounds version doesn't do. I'm not totally certain, but I think the Oceanlab AM mix from the Captivating release and the Anjunabeats 'original' are actually the same, and it seems to me that the mix that has actually fallen into relative obscurity is therefore not the AM Mix (which has subsequently been called the original) but the actual original from the Captivating release. I can only find one upload of the Captivating version on YouTube compared to many of the Anjuna version, also an upload of the AM Mix on YouTube appears to be the same as the Anjuna version. I also cannot find the Captivating version on any download sites, it's all the Anjuna version, labelled as the 'original'. Conversely, the Anjuna version seems to have become hard to find on vinyl, whilst the three Captivating Sounds vinyl issues seem more readily available.

This is an absolute CLASSIC trance tune--it doesn't get ANY better than this. Like mentioned before, the AM mix is a great improvement on the already amazing original. However, lately it appears that the AM mix is starting to fall into obscurity on sites such as beatport and DJdownloads. VERY sad, as this is a tune that should never be lost. The Armin Van Buuren mix is okay, definitely not a bad mix at all, it just doesn't compliment the amazing vocal of Justine Suissa as well as the AM mix. The hard to find DJ Shah remix gives this tune a funny bounce that I actually found very enjoyable, just to mix things up. Again, though, it doesn't come close to being as aesthetically pleasing as the AM mix.
