Pantha du Prince has always used bell-tones in his work, so with ELEMENTS OF LIGHT, it's only natural that he goes all the way in, collaborating with The Bell Laboratory from Norway. The bells take center stage, ringing clearly in "Wave," as the electronics slowly build in the background, and the clanging and percussive elements of "Particle" take over, growing deeper as the track goes on. "Photon" returns the ringing in force, while "Spectral Split" takes an ambient approach at first, but soon settles into an atmospheric groove with an ecstatic clamor with some Caribbean steel pans coming in. The tracks segue into one another, giving a seamless feel to the album, as if, indeed, this were a single beam of light refracted in several different ways, with the final track, "Quantum" returning to the bells and nothing else. All the elements come together in this album.
