These are the recordings of my mother Sau. Parvatibai Joshi who was always singing while doing the monotonous chores like sweeping, and house work. Music was a way to let out her feelings and frustrations. She used to play harmonium as well. She new many folk songs and pads of Purandara Das. Everyone admired her singing.

These recordings were made on a spool tape recorder in the summer of 1965 in India.Her elder son Bal Joshi and her husband Mr. S. B. Joshi were present during recordings in informal sessions and also accompanied her at some places. In 1970, these recordings were made into 33 rpm records through a friend who was in the business of making LP records from tapes. we gifted copies of this LP to friends and relatives. when LP's became obsolete, we distributed CD's to friends and family members.
