Had this on CD for years, but I barely listen to my CDs anymore and managed to get a 2008 repress from Amazon for £14. It is a brilliant, brilliant double vinyl LP. Superb instrumental and vocal performance from Portishead (I've seen them live in the late 90s and it was one of the best live performances I've ever been to). The live versions of the songs are absolutely superbly performed and realised - bringing fresh dynamics and details to the sound. The pressing is superb and completely free of pops and clicks, with a very dynamic sound. If there is one 'fault' then it is that the recording is quite mono sounding, with little soundstage evident (probably how it was recorded??). One of my best live albums for sure.

Though it's a live recording of previously issued songs, this release should really be considered Portishead's third album. The group themselves obviously disagree, as they titled their next record "Third." But the songs on Roseland NYC Live are so significantly transformed both by the orchestral accompaniment and other changes in style and mood that it often feels like you're listening to completely original material, or at least something that could (and does) easily stand on its own, without the usual caveats about a live session. It's a seriously good album.
