Life is boring. People are boring. They don't say what they mean and those that do shouldn't and I wish animals could talk so they could tell everyone how boring and stupid they are. Kaos (Juice Bar mix) is not boring and disturbingly overlooked but it's a b-side to something very good and semenal so it's somewhat understandable. Point being, rare tracks like this are the reason the government should be forcing people to attend dark basement nightclubs and providing them with high grade ecstasy as everybody would be having a great time and nobody would even want a crack pipe any more. I mean it's good from start to finish but at 3.30 ones jaw begins to tremor of its own accord and it's all so exciting it's just like Christmas was when you were four years old. Strangely enough it's sounds good anywhere and at anytime but I wouldn't expect stupid people to enjoy it.

Derrick May said he added the piano tune (which was called 'Strings of Life', dedicated to Martin Luther King) to his House track in Winter 1987. So this production was most certainly released in the beginning of 1988. It makes sense, because a remix single has been released one year later in 1989. So the release date is incorrect.

Winter 1987 could be January or February of that year. Which is early 1987. Doesn't necessarily mean it was December (late 1987). I think maybe a bit more research for confirmation would be helpful. I'm pretty sure this was out in '87, as my ex brother-in-law (who was really into soul, funk, rare groove, hip hop etc) was flying out to the states quite frequently at this time and picking up, then, obscure house tracks amongst his other tunes, and bringing back half a dozen of these. Besides it was even appearing on compilations in 1987, so I'm not sure how the release date is incorrect.Absolute classic release overall anyway. All of these early Detroit gems (by D.May, J.Atkins, K. Saunderson, Art Forest, Suburban Knight, Echols, Blake Baxter, C.Craig, E.Fowlkes, UR etc etc etc) will never be beaten as far as Detroit techno is concerned. IMHO.

Although " IT Is What It Is" is my fave Deric May tune,this is a monster that went out of control.I remember it slipped though the net at first and didn't make big waves.I remember going to London with quite a few others from Stoke and the Manchester (in 1989) and this tune causing ecstatic mayhem.When we got back we all wanted to know what it was,and my friend Justin C saying it was an older track and after buying incorrectly buying Da Posses "Strings" pulling it out of my crates.By then it was everywhere and to this day is still the biggest most awesome Techno monster ever created.Beautiful,anthemic and so big it packs floors 25 years later.

In the release notes, it reads: "Strings Of Life (Remix)", or "Strings Of The Strings Of Life" first appeared, and featured additional production by Carl Craig & Derrick May. This mix was "unreleased" in the sense that it was new at the time and was never officially released on a single; only on compilations." Does anyone have this??? I cannot find it anywhere on Discogs. I'd like to peep it out. Someone posted a comment on the Mastercuts Classic House Volume 2 release that the version on that compilation is the Carl Craig-Derrick May colab, but it's clearly the Magic Juan remix.

According to discogs info, track 10 on 'Relics - A Transmat Compilation' could be that mix.
