"Since the opening of Rolling Meadows High School in 1971, it's reputation in jazz education has always been highly respected. Each year the most talented musicians of the school in the study of jazz have made up the Rolling Meadows Jazz Ensemble. Through the leadership of it's director, Mr. Len King, the group has received a great deal of recognition for it's achievements. During the 1980-81 school year this group won the Class AAA competition at the Oak Lawn H.S. Jazz Festival. Significantly, the RMHS Jazz Ensemble has been rated as one of the top four bands in the country in auditions conducted the last two years by the National Association of Jazz Educators."
