I bought my copy of MSiCM in Jan '16. The cover is a very nice gatefold which I don't see mentioned here. Was the album reissued with a gatefold cover, or has it always been a gatefold? MEGA FREEDY

I have two versions - same barcode. One is the version listed here with single sleeve. The second one, though, which I don't see in discogs, is the beautiful gatefold with lyrics on white background and image of Sturgill facing each side. The only outer difference is that the version listed here is Copyright 2014 on the back and the gatefold version says Copyright 2015 on the back.

My US copy, bought yesterday is a single sleeve with no printed innersleve. Disappointed to see that there are nicer editions out there!

My copy sounds very nice, a dead quiet pressing. Too bad others aren't having the same experience. Unfortunately, modern pressings are hit and miss. Trust me, I've been on the other end too many times.

My copy of the lp sounds very flat and quiet (pretty terrible, actually). I imagine that the lacquer master was cut shallow. The digital version sounds great! The digital version has way more clarity and dynamic range. The saving grace is that the LP comes with a download code.

The newer version with double gatefold package sounds pretty good and clean. I just got it yesterday.

This album, as I understand it, was recorded live to tape. That "hiss" is the tape. This is old-school Nashville recording techniques . . . that "analogue" thing we hear about from time to time. I don't think there is anything wrong with the press in that regard. The digital versions bear the same indicia of a live performance put to tape. It's testament to the group's serious chops.

I know tape hiss, and that is not tape hiss. This album sounds like crap. And I love Sturgill.

I'm not hearing anything surface noise or hiss wise, might be that there was a bad pressing, I bought mine from a record shop in Denver, so it may be an earlier copy that's bern on the shelf a while, or it could be yet a third run.

DISAPPOINTING VINYL RELEASE. This pressing is VERY NOISY and distracts from the listening experience. Buyer beware. Apart from the 1cm lead-in from lip to start of the first song on each side; side 2 has a 2 inch gash all along the lead-in (quality issues?)Had I known this I would not have bought this record. To bad because I was really looking forward to hearing this on my system.

Question for other owners of this release- does the record sound good to you (not the content, but the pressing)? My system is far from perfect, but it sounded like I had a needle full of dust when I didn't. Lots of weird little record surface noise that I don't hear on other vinyl.

I am hearing it as well, from the first spin. It's intermittent, but it's annoying. Also seems to be an awful lot of hiss throughout.
