The Chemistry Set - This Day Will Never Happen Again FLAC album

I’m not gonna try and tell you that the music found here is brilliant ... what I am gonna tell you is that there’s an unexpected quality to these songs; over an hour of shimmering guitars laced with the alchemist’s psychedelic magic of 60’s, infused with intimate lyrics, fuzzed out solos, middle eastern influences, and a super cover of The Rolling Stones’ “We Love You.”

Yes, this is a B tiered band, and like so many who’ve been nearly dismissed because they are not on the A list, don’t go thinking that you’re not going to hear vibrant sonically layered melodies filled with pastoral arrangements that are lush, hazy and intoxicating, and all without the pretense. There’s an energy here that can’t be dismissed, there’s wayward stellar atmosphere that shifts like heat waves rising off the road in front of you, hypnotizing and morphing, creating a prismatic warmth, leaving you to sink ever deeper into your chair as it, along with you, are carried off to worlds unknown, past galaxies unnamed, where wondrous colours splash across the irises of your eyes, and your brain is emptied of anything other than the intoxication Chemistry Set so brilliantly induce.

Well there I go, I’ve use the word “brilliant” after all ... regardless, if your ears have a penchant for the the psychedelic music of years gone by, these are the guys who were there to usher in the indie neo-psychedelic wave that’s been capturing the hearts and minds of so many who could not, or chose not, to get out of its way. Now go head off to the playground and have some fun on the razzle dazzle, I’ll call you when recess is over.
