The Moody Blues - In The Beginning... FLAC album

This little-known album was actually a repackaging of the Go Now album, and essentially a cynical and misleading effort by the group's record label to re-market the mid-1960s, r&b-era Moody Blues' material, featuring Denny Laine and Clint Warwick in the line-up, to fans of the band's post-1967 psychedelic material. There is some first-rate music-making here, within the confines of the mid-1960s British invasion, very much rooted in American soul with touches of blues -- the best of it is already well known to fans: Their rendition of "Go Now" (admittedly a near-clone of the Bessie Banks original), the Denny Laine - Mike Pinder original "From The Bottom of My Heart" (a great lost example of mid-1960s white British soul), and the Barry-Greenwich "I Had A Dream." But it was a deliberate attempt to rip-off fans of the Mark-2 Moody Blues by making this look like a psychedelic-style album, and the band members themselves were understandably furious over this repackaging. The album quickly disappeared from store shelves and the Decca/London catalog. More of a curio than anything else, its mere existence is an interesting artifact of the most heady days of the Moodies' psychedelic period, and demonstrates the perceived demand for group's work in that vein circa 1970.
