Theo Parrish - Sketches / Somethin About Detroit FLAC album

5/5While the music on this release is among the finest house in my collection, my pressing seems a bit sketchy. On a couple cuts ("Kites On Pluto" and "Thumpasaurus" especially) the kick drum gets pretty crunchy, to the point of even hopping the needle out of the groove once or twice. Is this the intentional lo-fi distortion featured in some of TP's work? Do other people's copies sound this way or did I find a (slightly) cruddy pressing?

if you look at the grooves on a lot of theo records they are very wavy and hard to track, its because of the compressed bassI sold a lot of records because of this once only to regret it after getting a new cartridge, that said yes these pop in a few places on my copy

Sketches doesn't really speak to me (maybe I have to give it a few more listens), but I would pay 75€ for the Somethin track alone. What a gem

i agree it is worth the money for this release the more listens the better it gets, kites on pluto for a dance

we all love a bargain.....but sometimes worth paying for something this good!
