The Hard Education comp is a perfect way to start a kinship with Downwards. The overall players from the early days of Downwards are featured in their full strength. Especially the Surgeon tracks stands out. Recommened are the Surgeon record Basicvocabulary if one should be interested in the similar Surgeon Era. Highly recommended.

The Surgeon contributions on this release are exquisite. Utilising the harp as an element in a fairly hard techno release is brave and probably shouldn't work, but Surgeon pulls it off deftly and with great skill. The overall effect is Millsian but more organic; without the emphasis on a 'sci-fi'atmosphere.
An absolutely magical and unique piece of production that was probably the starting point of Surgeon's soiree into more experimental sounds as opposed to his previous clanging dancefloor escapades.
