Video

Virn
A great early platform to showcase Rock & Roll artists on TV. This show broadcast over the NBC-TV network was taped in color at a time when color TV was still in it's infancy (NBC was always at the forefront of the latest technology over the other two major U.S. television networks).

Unfortunately, NBC-TV didn't realize that the music of this time would become collectible and supposedly destroyed the majority of the original color tapes. These volumes, first presented on videotapes and laser discs, now on DVD, are from preserved black & white kinescopes.

The program showcased many American and British artists, at the start of the British Invasion and was hosted by a different artist each week, who also performed. The program featured a segment called "Hulabaloo A Go Go", in which a featured artist performed a spotlight song on a raised stage with blinking lights while two go-go dancers danced on either side of them in cubed enclosures, and others on the dance floor.

A Top Pop Medley of current chart hits or an artist tribute medley was also often performed by featured artists, as a segment of the program.
